BUS STOP IMPROVEMENT AND CONNECTIVITY PROGRAM

Construction to improve the accessibility and connectivity of RTC’s bus stops begins on March 2, 2020. As part of phase one of the project, construction crews will repair and replace sidewalks and driveways, place new concrete bus stop pads, and improve Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) accessibility.

The project will begin with improvements to 12 bus stops, including stops located at or near:

    • East 9th Street and Montello Street Intersection
    • Valley Road and Sadleir Way Intersection
    • Sutro Street and Haddock Drive Intersection
    • Lemmon Drive and North Virginia Street Intersection
    • Kirman Avenue and Moran Street Intersection
    • Mill Street and Sunshine Lane Intersection
    • Locust Street and Colorado River Boulevard Intersection
    • Grove Street and Yori Way Intersection
    • Hunter Lake Drive and Foster Drive Intersection
    • Sierra Center Parkway at Sierra Town Center
    • York Way and 4th Street Intersection
    • Prater Way and Pyramid Way Intersection

Occasional lane and shoulder closures expected.

Shoulder closures along Sparks Blvd from Baring Blvd to Disc Dr, and I-580 southbound on-ramp at Damonte Ranch Pkwy.

Underground construction will begin at 7th St and Keystone Ave. Occasional lane and shoulder closures expected.

3/9 – 3/20
Underground construction will begin at McCarran Blvd and Neil Rd. Occasional lane and shoulder closures expected.

VIRGINIA STREET BUS RAPID TRANSIT EXTENSION

Virginia Street:
  • Plumb Ln to Mt Rose St/Holcomb Ave: two-way traffic with isolated shoulder and street parking closures to install project appurtenances.
  • Liberty St to Mt Rose St/Holcomb Ave: traffic is reduced to southbound direction only.
  • Northbound through traffic is detoured at Holcomb Ave to Center St to Liberty St. Drivers can also use Mt Rose St to northbound Plumas St to Liberty St.
  • Northbound traffic with the final destination within the construction zone can utilize one of the many side streets from Holcomb Ave, Center St, Plumas St, or Haskell St; which include:
    • Pueblo St, Arroyo St, Vassar St, La Rue Ave, Martin St, Taylor St, Cheney St, St Lawrence Ave, Thoma St, California St, Moran St, and Stewart St.
Center Street and Mary Street at Virginia Street:
  • Work in this area will require closure of either Center St or Mary St at Virginia St. During limited instances, both streets may be closed at the same time. Through traffic will remain open on Virginia St. Mary St and Center St remain open to traffic away from Virginia St.
  • Detours will be in place.
