2022-2026 Transportation Optimization Plan Strategies (TOPS)

The last few years have brought major change to the Truckee Meadows region, impacting every aspect of life – including public transportation. To better serve our community, Washoe County needs a transportation network that reflects the new ways we live, work, shop, travel and play.

RTC’s 2022-2026 TOPS is the tool to get us where we need to go. TOPS will look at all facets of transportation in our region and make recommendations for how to optimize and improve them.

The goal of TOPS is to improve mobility and enhance quality of life in the Washoe County metropolitan area. TOPS will recommend strategies for:

  • Retaining current transit riders and attracting new ones
  • Improving customer service
  • Improving and combining technology
  • Making RTC’s operations financially sustainable

Community Engagement

The cornerstone of TOPS is community input. RTC wants to hear from current and former riders as well as the community at large. We want to know which parts of the system work well for you and what could be improved. If you stopped riding transit during the pandemic, what would encourage you to return? If you’ve never ridden a bus, what would entice you to try it out?

Survey respondents who provide their contact information will receive a free 7-day RIDE pass through the Token Transit app.
