The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County is beginning construction to install a new traffic signal at the intersection of Red Rock Road and Silver Lake Road to improve safety and traffic flow in our community. Construction to install the new signal poles is set to begin on Monday, December 2. Commuters may see minor lane closures during the construction process.
The new signal at Red Rock Road/Silver Lake Road will be installed due to increased traffic volumes at that intersection. The RTC will complete underground work and installation of signal poles from December 2 through January 2020. Then, pavement slurry sealing and striping will take place spring of 2020 before the signal is activated.
This project is part of a larger project, called RTC Traffic Engineering Spot 8, to improve traffic flow and safety at intersections throughout our region. The project represents a $1.5-million investment in our community.
Construction operations are weather permitting. The RTC reminds the community to use caution when traveling near construction zones and support businesses within construction zones.
