The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County is reminding drivers to be aware of the new traffic signal at the intersection of Pyramid Highway and Calle De La Plata in Spanish Springs. The RTC plans to turn on the newly installed traffic signal on Tuesday, October 23.
“Safety is our top priority at the RTC,” said RTC Executive Director Lee Gibson. “This new traffic signal will bring substantially improved safety to this intersection and to our growing community.”
With new developments and housing in the area surrounding the intersection, this signal will bring improved safety and traffic capacity to the intersection to better manage traffic congestion and travel delays. The intersection includes new pedestrian crosswalks, ADA-accessible ramps, and flashers placed ahead of the intersection.
Drivers are reminded to be aware of the posted speed limits and to watch for pedestrians, especially during fall and winter months when it gets darker earlier.
