The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County will offer free bus service to Reno Mayor Bob Cashell’s funeral service on Thursday, February 20, 2020.
Overflow parking for the service will be located at the Walmart parking lot at 155 Damonte Ranch Parkway in Reno. After parking, attendees can board the bus at the RTC Route 56 northbound bus stop on Virginia Street, adjacent to the parking lot, for a special, complimentary bus service that will run continuously between that bus stop and St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. The bus will begin at noon and run continuously until 4 p.m.
The RTC is saddened at the passing of Mayor Bob Cashell. It is with a heavy heart we give tribute to the life and legacy of a community icon and friend to all of us.
Mayor Cashell was a champion for transportation infrastructure throughout Washoe County. He served on the RTC Board of Commissioners as an alternate board member representing the City of Reno from 2007 – 2014. During his mayoral tenure, he was a strong supporter of much-needed transportation investments that not only benefited the City of Reno but the region as a whole. He championed several transportation projects, including the SouthEast Connector.
The RTC Board of Commissioners and staff express their heartfelt condolences to the Cashell family and join our community in celebrating his life and the contributions he gave to our great state and the Reno/Sparks area to make a community we are proud to call home. We honor his memory and celebrate his accomplishments.
