The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County will begin work on a new traffic signal at the intersection of Sharlands Avenue and Mae Anne Avenue in Reno on Monday, February 15, 2021. The RTC anticipates activating the signal later this spring.
This intersection has seen an increase in traffic and was determined to warrant a traffic signal to help reduce traffic congestion.
During construction, drivers can anticipate minor lane and shoulder closures as part of the traffic signal installation process.
As part of the RTC’s Traffic Engineering Spot 9 – Package 1 project, the RTC will also be installing battery back-up systems at traffic signals along Sun Valley Drive to enable the traffic signals to function during potential power outages.
This project represents a $865,000 investment in our community, funded through the Regional Road Impact Fee (RRIF) Program.
