The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County will activate a new traffic signal at the intersection of Sharlands Avenue and Mae Anne Avenue in Reno on Thursday, April 8, 2021.
This intersection has seen an increase in traffic and was determined to warrant a traffic signal to help reduce traffic congestion. The project also included repaving the intersection and adding new roadway striping.
Drivers are encouraged to use extra caution in and around the newly signalized intersection as people get used to the new traffic signal.
The RTC will also be installing battery back-up systems at traffic signals along Sun Valley Drive to enable the traffic signals to function during potential power outages. These traffic signal upgrades are part of the RTC’s Traffic Engineering Spot 9 – Package 1 project, among other locations to be improved.
This project represents an $865,000 investment in our community, funded through the Regional Road Impact Fee (RRIF) Program.
