of Friday, June 28 through midnight on Sunday, July 7. The RTC is transitioning to a new transit service contractor, Keolis, starting July 1.
As the transition from MV to Keolis occurs, the RTC has seen an uptick in unscheduled absences as bus drivers use up their sick time before the transition. As an added incentive to keep drivers coming to work, MV will pay a $250 bonus to MV employees who don’t have unscheduled absences through the end of the contract period on June 30. While this transition has resulted in some missed trips, 95% of RTC’s transit service is operating.
“We want to thank our transit passengers for their patience and understanding as we transition to a new transit service contractor,” said RTC Executive Director Lee Gibson. “We look forward to continuing to provide reliable transit service to our passengers and our community.”
Additional service disruptions are anticipated over the weekend. Transit passengers are encouraged to check the status of their routes at rtcwashoe.com.
