The Regional Transportation Commission (RTC) of Washoe County is planning to close North Virginia Street to southbound traffic between Sunset Mountain Road and the intersection with Panther Drive on Monday, November 1, and Tuesday, November 2 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.  Southbound traffic will be detoured to Golden Valley Drive, to 395 southbound, then back to North Virginia Street.  North Virginia Street will remain open to northbound traffic.

The closure will allow construction crews to remove the existing asphalt, place new asphalt pavement, and add new roadway striping.

The work is part of the RTC’s North Valleys Improvement Project, Phase 3B. As part of the project, the RTC will install a right turn lane for southbound North Virginia Street at the intersection of Panther Drive, and a sidewalk and bus pads on North Virginia Street. This project is anticipated to be complete in mid-November.
