Construction of the Lemmon Drive project begins in July 2021. This project will widen Lemmon Drive from four lanes to six lanes from Sky Vista Parkway/Buck Drive to Military Road, and increase capacity, improve safety, and provide multimodal transportation choices. Construction is anticipated to take about one year to complete. The new roadway design will improve traffic flow with longer left-turn lane queues from southbound Lemmon Drive to Buck Drive and northbound Lemmon Drive to Military Road, and a new diverging-diamond interchange at US 395 and Lemmon Drive. To improve safety, a continuous raised median will prevent left turns into or out of businesses, and U-turn movements will be accommodated just north of Sky Vista Parkway. The project also includes a separated, 10-foot-wide, shared-use path along the west side of Lemmon Drive, an adjoining sidewalk along the east side, and bike lanes.
Work on the new retaining wall near Walgreens continues. Access to the Walgreens driveway and the access road from Lemmon Drive will be closed for approximately four months. Please use Sky Vista Parkway to access Walgreens. Drivers can expect to see additional traffic control including orange barrels on the outside lanes of Lemmon Drive from Sky Vista Parkway/Buck Drive to Military Road as crews prepare for roadway widening. Lane and shoulder widths will be reduced. Business access will be maintained.
