Whether you commute by bicycle or ride for recreation, the resources below will provide guidance and instruction to make your trip safe and enjoyable.
RTC SMART TRIPS and the RTC Bicycle / Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) created the 2012 Reno/Sparks Bike Map to depict existing bicycle facilities (lanes and paths) along with popular rides.
The printed 2013 Reno/Sparks Bike Map is available for free from the following businesses, schools, and public agencies:
The interactive online version is available below. Identification of a street on the Reno/Sparks Bike Map as containing a bicycle lane, path or popular ride does not ensure enhanced safety when compared with other streets in the area. There are a variety of factors that affect safety for bicyclists that the RTC cannot control. These elements include, but are not limited to: motorist behavior, pavement and weather conditions, the physical condition of the bicycle, and the level of skill and travel behavior of the bicyclist.
The RTC recommends you familiarize yourself with the rules of the road, always bicycle with caution, and be aware of your surroundings when riding your bike. Please obey all laws and travel with care.
Public input is encouraged. Do you know of other bicycle facilities not shown on the Reno/Sparks Bike Map or spot a correction that needs to be made? Please email the BPAC at bikemap@rtcwashoe.com with your questions, comments and suggestions.
