Long-Range Plan (RTP)

2035 Regional Transportation Plan

The Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) defines the long-range planning policies and priorities for the community's future transportation system.  It is the region's blueprint to maintaining access, mobility and clean air for our community.  The RTP is a key tool for perserving our quality-of-life including short, safe commutes, a vibrant economy, and clear, blue skies.  Under federal regulations, the RTP must be updated every four years to maintain eligibility for federal funding.  The 2035 RTP was adopted by the RTC on April 19, 2013.

Regional Transportation Plan 2008

The Regional Transportation Plan (RTP) is the single-most important planning document the RTC prepares, serving as a blueprint to preserve our quality-of-life as our community prospers and expands. The RTP outlines the region's long-range transportation plans to accommodate the master-planned development in the City of Reno, City of Sparks and Washoe County. It addresses travel by all modes including automobiles, transit, bicycles, pedestrians, aviation, rail and goods movement as well as transportation management strategies to make the system more efficient. The guiding principles in preparing the RTP are to achieve a better balance between transportation system planning for all modes and accommodating the region's projected growth in population and employment. The RTC, as the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the region, is responsible for the RTP.
