Wireless Alerts

MyRTC subscribers can select text messaging for Transit Alerts and Transit Detours. To receive text messages sent to your cellular phone or other wireless device, you need to enter your mobile phone number as an Optional Secondary E-mail Address. Just check the box for “Send Wireless Alerts to this address.” A primary email address is still required to subscribe, even if you request wireless alerts.

Generally, wireless and other short-message devices accept fewer characters (as few as 140 characters per message), so MyRTC Wireless Alerts are formatted to deliver the main message up front. Messages that exceed this character limit may be truncated by your wireless provider. Subscription items that support Wireless Alerts are designated with a 'Wireless Alerts' icon on the subscription topic page. Most wireless carriers allow for text e-mail messages, some at an additional cost. For more information on your particular device, please click here.
